Governor Quinn Reminds Families to Take Advantage of Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday – 10-Day Holiday that Eliminates 5 Percent State Sales Tax Ends Tonight

He encouraged families to purchase back-to-school items for their children during this 10-day period in order to receive a 5 percent discount on state sales tax. The sales tax holiday started Friday, Aug. 6 and will continue through Sunday, Aug. 15. During his visit today, Governor Quinn also purchased $100 worth of back-to-school items, which he donated to the Salvation Army.
