Treasure Coast, Jupiter Christian, Palm Beach Gardens, Martin County and Dwyer were the five teams that advanced out of the Palm Beach County regional of the Nike 7-on-7 Football Tournament on June 11.

The five will now play in the July 9th Nike 7-on-7 championships in Miami.

They await the teams that advance out of the Broward and Miami-Dade county regionals. Those two regionals will be played June 25.

Operation Recognition Has Honored 158 Graduates Since 2001

To enthusiastic cheers and applause, ten individuals were awarded long overdue high school diplomas in a ceremony held May 17 by the Sacramento County Board of Education. Operation Recognition honors the contributions of veterans and Japanese American citizens who missed completing high school due to World War II, the Korean War or the Vietnam War. Two awards were awarded posthumously this year.

Honorees in attendance, joined by family members and friends, gathered with County Board of Education Trustees inside the David P. Meaney Education Center for a pre-ceremony reception.

Soundstage Success!

Shooting a narrative on 16mm film is awesome and stressful (especially compared to the ease of retakes when shooting digitally.) Shooting on 16mm film in Emerson’s Paramount Soundstage is awesome and much easier than I had anticipated.

For a class called “Cinematography and Lighting” we were assigned on-set roles to produce a short film. It was to run much like a real set, with the Director and Director of Photography making many of the decisions in and out of class.

Is Facebook a viable platform for journalism? Paul Bradshaw, @paulbradshaw, who runs the MA in Online Journalism at Birmingham City University, decided to find out by forsaking his Online Journalism Blog and writing instead on a Facebook Page (artfully named Paul Bradshaw’s Online Journalism Blog on FB for 1 month).

The experiment ended this week, without too much fanfare: just a little status update from Paul asking: “Hasn’t time flown. My Facebook Page experiment has come to the end of its month. So, what now?”

Three replies were posted, all suggesting he should carry on. The only substantial point made was this:

The WCSSAA slo-pitch seasons will be decided in the next few days with tournaments on Wednesday and Thursday with championship games scheduled for Monday at undetermined locations.

OFSAA championships also begin on Thurday with locals athletes competing in soccer and track.

Ill be heading to Sudbury for all three days of track and field competition at Laurentian University
