FORT LAUDERDALE
High school sports teams can continue to play football at Lockhart Stadium, and the professional Strikers soccer team can stay as well.
A last-minute deal with the Federal Aviation Administration will allow the sporting events to continue at the stadium next to the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport for six more months. The reprieve allows the city time to negotiate with developers to build a water park resort there.

Required summer reading for local eduwonks just hit the shelves.
On Friday, the Bexar County School Boards Coalition celebrated the release of a book chronicling the history, facts and figures of 20 area school districts titled, “Public Education in Bexar County.”
The coalition of local school board members formed in 2005 and coalition president Bobby Blount, also a board member for Northside Independent School District, spearheaded the book project.
“If we’re all going to help education out, the key is having the correct information,” said Blount at the book release party Friday.

The high school season officially ended earlier this week with the various OFSAA competitions.
However, high school students will continue to be athletes over the summer months. Ill try to stay on top of the competitions and accomplishments but a little help is always appreciated. Feel free to fire me an email at if something comes up.
Also, Id like to talk with any athlete heading to a post-secondary institution on an athletic scholarship. Anyone?

The issues raised in the report are very serious ones, and we are actively investigating the claims and reviewing our overall credit-recovery procedures. Should we find violations of our guidelines or ethical standards or the need to implement clearer or stronger policies, we will take action to ensure the integrity and rigor of that program and all of our programs.
