Celtics take the free pass
We have a taker.
The St. David Celtics will join the top tier of the Waterloo County girls hockey league. The Celtics took the free pass to the top after Waterloo-Oxford asked to be sent to Tier 2. The Crusaders will have a lineup heavy on Grade 9 players that would struggle to compete at the top level.
Of interest, commissioner Bert Udema said he had not heard anything from St. Mary’s about joining the league. St. Mary’s athletic director Tom Mandich had said the Eagles would be in the league.

Gotta give the Monsignor Doyle Mustangs credit.
One day after I say the St. Mary’s Eagles have all but locked up the D8 junior boys soccer league title, the Mustangs hold the Eagles to a 4-4 tie.
The Eagles won the first meeting 10-0.
