Video: Churnalism Debate
Alannah Coupp on July 14, 2011 in College OnlineThe Media Standards Trust and BBC College of Journalism held this lively debate at the Royal Statistical Society on the quality of journalism in the UK.
The motion: “This house believes news articles based on press releases should be marked ‘advertorial’.”
For the motion: Chris Atkins, Director of the films Starsuckers and Taking Liberties, and James Randerson, the Guardian’s Environment and Science News Editor.
Against the motion: Trevor Morris, former chief executive of the Chime Communications PR Group and author of PR – A Persuasive Industry, and David Higgerson, Head of Multimedia at Trinity Mirror.
The event was chaired by Fiona Fox, Director of the Science Media Centre.
