The most successful Fraternity Fundraising Ideas are ones that are actually fun – you’ll not only get more buy-in from your brothers, but you’ll get more people all around campus to participate. You’re an enthusiastic, outgoing bunch, so bring that personality to the table, coupled with a great idea, and you’re bound to hit your fraternity fundraiser out of the park.
BBQ Fraternity Fundraiser
Who doesn’t love great barbecue? Use your fraternity’s grill, or borrow a grill, and cook up pulled pork and chicken, and have a few sides, like pasta salad, mashed potatoes, and cole slaw ready to go, along with take-out containers. To make it simple, charge per container, where each person gets a serving of chicken, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, pasta salad, etc. Be sure to promote the barbecue fundraiser in advance, and on the day of the fundraiser, set up a small table in your student center or a heavily trafficked area and hand out samples of the bbq to really get student’s mouths watering and over to your fundraiser.
Video Game Tournament Fundraiser
Video games like Rock Band, Call of Duty, and Halo are so popular, with tournaments cropping up on many college campuses. Set up a video game tournament, making sure you have all necessary permissions, and charge a fee to each person who enters. Supply some light snacks and beverages, and let the gaming begin!
Pizza Fraternity Fundraisers
Many pizza chains have pizza coupon fundraiser opportunities available, where you sell $10 pizzas for only $5, or buy one get one coupons, etc. Consult with the pizza chains that deliver to your campus and see which has the most attractive offer. Talk with Residence Life on your campus to see if you can put posters in the dorms advertising the fundraiser, and go throughout the dorms selling the coupons. No one can resist pizza in college!
Trivia Night Fundraiser
Hosting a trivia night fundraiser always promises for one lively event. You can either look for trivia night fundraising dvds or simply create the questions and format yourself, perhaps modeling it off of popular trivia game shows. Then, have an energetic, well-known brother from your fraternity be the evening’s host, and you can randomly draw contestants based on raffle tickets you handled at the door as audience members paid their entrance fee and walked in. You can also have door prizes and throw t-shirts into the crowd to keep audience members engaged.
Jail and Bail Fundraiser
This is hands-down one of our favorite fundraising ideas, and we’ve posted the full details on website – check out Jail and Bail Fraternity Fundraiser for the full info. Basically, the Jail and Bail style fundraiser is where your fraternity brothers “charge” well-known students, professors, and campus staff with funny “crimes”, like not being able to keep students awake during class. The brothers will promote the event, build a “jail”, and read the charges out loud to the “criminal” to stir up as much excitement as possible. Then, you’ll have a trial to get the criminals out of jail by raising “bail money” for each of them! Its fun for all involved and the fraternity will have the chance to work more closely with campus professors and staff.
What kind of fraternity fundraisers have you participated in or held? What made them successful? Any advice for ensuring your fundraiser is a win?
