The South Mountain Community College (SMCC) Career Services Office will present the college’s annual Academic Discovery Day on Wednesday, March 28.

The event is designed to help students focus on their future, by exploring new potential careers, meeting college faculty, discovering educational pathways, and talking with professionals from a wide variety of local industries.

Academic advisors will be available to help with educational planning, and representatives from SMCC student clubs will be on hand to share areas of interest.

While the event has been designed for current and future SMCC students, it is open to anyone in the community wishing to attend.

Negligence seems to everywhere in our present times. Even though we have several regulatory agencies and safety rules in place to protect consumers, it doesn’t seem avoidable. It’s in products, behavior and even on the road. Don’t miss Stanford Graduate School of Business in the spring, when the flowers are in full bloom outside the new Knight Management Center. In a recent post to the Stanford GSB admissions blog, Admissions Coordinator Madison Kawakami invites prospective applicants to the MBA program to come visit when the Class Visit Program resumes later this month.

Initial registration for spring class visits and information sessions begins on Wednesday, March 7th, Kawakami writes. Weekly information sessions will begin on Monday, April 2nd, and class visits can be scheduled starting on Friday, April 13th. Finally, tours of the Knight Management Center will get underway on April 16th, Kawakami added.

The Tustin Community Preschool is holding an open house on Monday.

The open house is from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Monday, March 5 at the preschool, 225 W. Main St.

The director of the parent-participation preschool will be on hand to answer questions.

Roll-Kraft, a leading producer of tube & pipe and roll form tooling, has an on-going relationship with various educational facilities to help promote technical career options. The latest event was held at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, OH.

The occasion featured Mr. Ken Platt, a CNC Operator/Programmer at Roll-Kraft, who presented information to a class of students in the College Tech Prep program. These junior and senior high school students are getting a head start on a technical career. Mr. Platt, who participated in this College Tech Prep program several years ago, discussed with the students the opportunities available in the manufacturing field and explained how industry has changed over the years, with cleaner surroundings and electronic technology to do the heavy work.
