UVU Police Nab Felony Serial Collegiate Burglary Suspect

Utah Valley University’s Police Department arrested a suspect Oct. 5 near University Mall in Orem wanted by law enforcement agencies in at least three states for a series of felony burglaries to university athletic facilities and offices.

Teto Peter Faust, 30, of Colorado Springs, Colo., was taken into custody after UVU police located a 2004 Toyota Corolla parked near the Cinemark University Mall matching the description of the suspect’s stolen vehicle. Police were notified by an alert UVU employee who saw the vehicle and thought it looked remarkably similar to a photo taken from security camera footage from a Sept. 23

Utah Symphony to present Oct. 3 Mozart and Tchaikovsky concert in its first UVU appearance

Utah Valley University’s School of the Arts will present a rare opportunity to enjoy the Utah Symphony in Utah County when it performs Mozart and Tchaikovsky during a special “Utah Symphony at UVU” concert Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. in the Sorensen Student Center’s Grande Ballroom. Led by current music director Thierry Fischer, the Utah Symphony is one of the most celebrated full-time orchestras in the U.S. that in 2002 merged with the Utah Opera. Fischer, a native of Switzerland, was previously principal conductor of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and will conduct with the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in 2014. He is a recipient of the International Classical Music Award in the opera category.

UVU Geomatics Club To Host Utah Council Of Land Surveyors Fall Forum

The Utah Council of Land Surveyors (UCLS) holds annual meetings to provide continuing education for the organization’s survey technicians and licensed professional land surveyors. For the first time ever, one of those meetings will be held at Utah Valley University and hosted by UVU’s Geomatics Club. The UCLS Fall Forum on Sept. 7 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the UVU Sorensen Student Center’s Centre Stage, where the organization’s members will receive professional and technical training from multiple experts in the field. UVU’s Geomatics Club plans to begin hosting the annual professional-development meetings on a regular basis.
